/Summary

Aliens land on earth very often, so often that they created a volunteer group for schools to have students take care of them on school grounds. The main character, Yuri is voted by the class to be one of those volunteers. Two other people are chosen to work with her. Kumi, who is a seemingly mature and independent and Kasumi, a rich girl that does whatever she wants as long as she give it 100%. Together they take care of aliens that arrive at their school with Borgs. Aliens that take the shapes of helmets, giving them extra strength.

/Review

Unlike a person in that would've watched it 2003 with the central park DVD, going into it I knew it was a pretty fucked up show despite the visuals. That's the only thing people really talk about with this show, cute girls in a really fucked up situation. Which I do like those types of stories but the biggest thing I left with was straight confusion.

Alien 9 leaves me with wayyy more questions than answers, so much so that I have no clue what to write for this review. It ends on a cliff hanger with one of the main character seemingly dying and her Borg being tied up. I'm guessing she's not dead because the Borg isn't but holy shit what a way to end it.

I think Central Park KNEW it would confuse the hell out of people since they shipped the DVD with the manga volumes it left off on. Although from what I've read it, certain things STILL aren't explained. Since this isn't a review for the manga I haven't read, I feel like I wouldn't be able to give it much of a review to an incomplete story.

From the story we DO have adapted into the anime, it's pretty much a moe version of evangelion. So wayyy better. Well it at least covers similar themes to it, loneliness and growing up. It shares other similarities of having a task pushed onto the timid main character and adults using them. Butttt I do think the characters are cuter so it's automatically better.

The way the grotesque visuals and cute characters blend are great!! Almost as good as gore screaming show, minus the ero. The alien designs are gross and pretty original, especially the Borgs. The way they form would be very interesting things to see explained when I read the manga. The visuals in general are good, the animation is very fluid. Especially with the wonderful action scenes.

Background music is really focus of the anime, it's serviceable but nothing special. I really enjoy the OP, a really upbeat fun track. The ED didn't really hit until the last ep when it was playing with Kumi dying(?).

I do recommend the show if you're ok with the unfinished story, it's pretty short coming to around 2 hours. I do see that people could find it repetitive or boring, so idk.
