This is a bit of a follow up post to my Normie Apocalyspe rant. Similar to that one, this one is sparked by something I saw on twitter. Was reading a thread about otaku history of 2000s with the red flag of a Ukagaka pfp. Reading the thread it was apparent that the person wasn't familiar with the shit they where talking about at all.
If you're going to claim to be a fan of something at least consume it. I think that might be the thing that makes me the maddest. These people don't even watch single episode or play a single minute of whatever they're talking about.
I get that not everyone is going to want to look into every aspect and want to know exactly when the director took a shit. But if you're going to act like a authority on a subject the you should at least consume it. Even then you should do some actual research because a lot of these people tend to spread misinfo.
The people consuming that type of content isn't going to double check and see if what they're saying is right. They will just consume it and not even THINK about anything being incorrect. You see myths like Anno leaving the mid production of Kare Kano still getting pushed to this day because people don't do research.
These creators pour hours of their lives into these projects for our enjoyement and you can't even bother to look through the sources of a wiki page. No way you can claim to remotley like something and willingly spread crap around. These people will come into forum threads and act like they're the master of all just because. Then if you correct them "it's just anime bro."
